The threat of showers, choppy water and a stiff breeze - what more could a sailor want? Schooner Zodiac passes Point Wilson Light at the mouth of Port Townsend Bay, Washington. She is a frequent visitor to western Puget Sound. Berthed in Bellingham, Washington, she was built in the 1920's as a San Francisco Bay pilot schooner; now owned and operated by a private foundation devoted to her preservation and use as a charter vessel. Her classic lines and gaff rig make her one of the most beautiful of the "tall ships" that sail Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.

As with all my marine paintings this one is based on reference photographs I take myself.
