This is an older piece I did shortly after visiting the semi-ghost town of Nevadaville, Colorado in 1983. It was also the first of s series of pieces done in acrylic, pen & ink and lately colored pencil. The original reference photo contained so many useful aspects of the complex subject that I periodically came back to it to depict different views and to challenge technique - as with the latest incarnation shown in the Colored Pencil Gallery as "Kerosene Cans".

The painting won a Best of Show - Grumbacher Medal at the 1983 Arvada, Colorado Fine Artist Guild Annual Juried Show.
